ARV-VP-6/1 is a collection of teeth from one individual. The teeth exhibit thin molar enamel, which resembles the more primitive ape condition ¹. The upper and lower canines are relatively large, suggesting that the species exhibited some degree of sexual dimorphism, but the upper canines are more incisor-like than canines typically seen in ape², but not as incisor-like as the canines of Australopithecus afarensis¹. In addition, the P3 of this specimen is more ape-like than the P3 of Au. afarensis. The P3 has a high protoconid and has a strong mesiobuccal projection that differentiates it from that of Au. afarensis¹.
