ARV-VP-6/1 is a collection of teeth from one individual. The teeth exhibit thin molar enamel, which resembles the more primitive ape condition 1. The upper and lower canines are relatively large, suggesting that the species exhibited some degree of sexual dimorphism, but the upper canines are more incisor-like than canines typically seen in ape2, but not as incisor-like as the canines of Australopithecus afarensis1. In addition, the P3 of this specimen is more ape-like than the P3 of Au. afarensis. The P3 has a high protoconid and has a strong mesiobuccal projection that differentiates it from that of Au. afarensis1.
